Úthlíð sits below Réttin Restaurant on the Golden Circle, open all year and 10 km from Geysir, 20 km from Gullfoss. The camping fee covers showers, hot tubs and indoor dining space, with a golf course, horse rentals and cottages on the same site. Good for northern lights in winter.
Úthlíð spreads out on a hillside below Réttin Restaurant, right in the middle of the Golden Circle. That location does a lot of the work: Geysir is 10 km away and Gullfoss 20 km, so the loop's main sights are an easy morning. It's open year-round, which is rare here. The camping fee includes showers, hot tubs and warm indoor space for dining and washing up; a washing machine and dryer cost extra. Guests can wander over to Réttin for a meal, free Wi-Fi and sport on the big screen. There's a 9-hole golf course, horse rentals and cottages on site too. In winter the area takes motorhomes and campers, and the dark skies make it a decent spot for the northern lights. Quiet hours start at 23:00.
Wild camping rules have tightened. Use designated campsites to stay on the right side of the law.
