Geysir Campsite sits next to the Geysir geothermal field in Haukadalur, a short walk from Geysir and Strokkur on the south coast. Hotel Geysir, its restaurant and the store are all close. Tents pitch nearest the hot ground; vehicles get a separate area with electricity. Open 15 May to 15 September.
Few campsites put you this close to the show — Geysir Campsite is a short stroll from Geysir and Strokkur, set in the Haukadalur valley beside the geothermal field. Hotel Geysir, the Geysir Glíma restaurant and café, and the Geysir Store are all within walking distance. Facilities cover showers, toilets, accessible restrooms, laundry, a playground and a service building, with Wi-Fi on site. The layout splits by type: the section nearest the hot ground is tents only, while campervans, caravans and motorhomes get a dedicated area with electric hookups. There's plenty to do around here — hiking, cycling, horse riding, Langjökull glacier tours, highland trips and natural hot springs. Fees are paid on arrival at the service building. The season runs 15 May to 15 September.
