Lundur Tjaldsvæði
Lundur Tjaldsvæði
About
Lundur is a family-friendly site in Öxarfjörður, with a playground and swimming pool both within walking distance. It's close to Vatnajökull National Park, where ranger-guided walks run in high summer. The nearest village, Kópasker, covers healthcare, a bank, shop and more. Open mid-June to the end of August.
Lundur is pitched at families, sitting in Öxarfjörður with a playground and a swimming pool both an easy walk away. On site you get electricity, toilets, hot and cold water and dishwashing. Its trump card is Vatnajökull National Park nearby. During high summer the park rangers run guided walks — details go up at the Gljúfrastofa visitor centre or on vjp.is — and the store in Ásbyrgi stays open late through the season, with a restaurant alongside. The nearest village is Kópasker, which quietly covers a lot: healthcare, pharmacy, bank, the Skerjakolla shop, a car garage, a folk museum just outside town, and a 9-hole putting course. Quiet hours run from 23:00 to 07:00. The site is open from 12 June to 31 August.
Wild camping rules have tightened. Use designated campsites to stay on the right side of the law.
