Mánárbakki

What sets Mánárbakki apart is the sea. The site sits close to the shore on the Tjörnes Peninsula, looking straight out over the water, and it's held up as one of the best spots in Iceland to watch the sun go down. The surrounding area is thick with birdlife. Facilities are solid: toilets, showers, and accessible washrooms for guests with disabilities, plus an indoor kitchen and dining area for when the weather turns. It also sits well for touring the north-east. Ásbyrgi is about 35 km away and Húsavík 24 km, with Lake Mývatn roughly 80 km off and Akureyri 100 km. The long season, from the start of March to the end of October, stretches either side of the usual summer window.
