Nestled at the foot of the legendary Álfaborg (Elf Rock), Borgarfjörður Eystri Campsite offers a unique stay surrounded by nature, folklore, and outdoor adventure. Conveniently located within walking distance of local services and only a few minutes from Hafnarhólmi, home to one of Iceland's largest and most accessible puffin colonies. The campsite features spacious camping areas spread across three large grass fields and two gravel sections, with 40 electrical hookups available. Just across the road you'll find the popular Álfacafé, while restaurants, a grocery store, and family-friendly activities are only a short walk away. Two service buildings provide excellent facilities. One includes toilets, accessible facilities, and showers, while the other offers a dining area, cooking facilities, and electrical outlets for charging small devices. The campsite also provides waste disposal for motorhomes and caravans, recycling facilities nearby, and free WiFi. Álfaborg, the rocky hill beside the campsite, is a protected site and according to local folklore the home of Iceland's elves. Walking paths lead around and to the top of the hill, where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. A free disc golf course is located directly behind the campsite, with discs available to borrow at reception. Borgarfjörður Eystri is also renowned for its extensive network of hiking trails, offering countless opportunities to explore the mountains and fjords. Mountain biking trails are being developed in the area, and local events and activities take place throughout the summer season.
