About
Seyðisfjörður's campsite sits near the town centre, ringed by trees and split into small areas. The Smyril Line ferry docks here, making the town many travellers' first stop in Iceland. A pool, restaurants, shops, sauna and hot tubs are all close by. Open April to October.
This is where the Smyril Line ferry ties up, so for a lot of visitors Seyðisfjörður is the first Icelandic town they set foot in. It's a place of about 700 people with a history built on herring and, for a time, a US navy base. The campsite is a short walk from a good stretch of the town: swimming pool, restaurants, grocery store, sauna and hot tubs, plus a craftsman's market and the Skaftfell cultural centre. A nine-hole golf course, kayaking and walking paths give you plenty to fill a day. A newer service house has showers, a washing machine, dryer, cooking facilities and a seating area. Note there's an 18-year age limit unless you're camping with adults.
Camping cards can save you money if you're spending multiple nights in the tent. Do the math.
