About
Sólbrekka sits beside its namesake guesthouse on the shore of Mjóafjörður, close enough to the water to hear the sea and birds — and, with luck, spot seals or whales. It has toilets with showers, laundry, free Wi-Fi and electric hook-ups for mobile homes. Open June to September.
This is a sit-and-watch-the-water kind of spot. The campsite runs along the shore of Mjóafjörður next to the Sólbrekka guesthouse, where you can listen to the sea, wander the beach picking up stones, and keep an eye out for seals or whales passing by. Facilities cover toilets with showers, a washing machine and dryer, free Wi-Fi and an outdoor bench and table. Mobile homes can hook up to electricity, and there's a playground close by for children. Marked walking paths start nearby, and Sólbrekka sells coffee and refreshments if you don't feel like brewing your own. The campsite season runs June through September, while the cottages on site stay open all year.
Wild camping rules have tightened. Use designated campsites to stay on the right side of the law.
