Árnes is a flat, roomy campsite near Selfoss on the south coast, close to the river Kálfá and a short hop from the region's main sights. It has about 60 electricity plugs, plus a swimming pool, football field, playground, and a store-restaurant. No pre-booking — drop-in only.
Flat and open, Árnes runs to roughly sixty electricity plugs across the main field, with extra side areas when it fills up. It sits close to the river Kálfá, a short drive from the big-name attractions of South Iceland. There's more here than a place to sleep. A swimming pool, football field, and playground are on site, along with a hostel and a store that doubles as a restaurant. One thing to know before you plan: the site doesn't hold spots or take pre-bookings, so it's first-come. The season runs from late May to mid-September.
