A road to an abandoned fjord settlement, passing a disused 1952 herring factory on the way to the waterfall Hvalárfoss.

Isolated. There's no active settlement at the end — just the abandoned factory and the waterfall.

The herring factory at the fjord closed decades ago; the buildings are still standing, left as they were when the industry moved on.

One river crossing is noted near the end of the road. Check its level before committing, and don't assume it's the same as your last visit or someone else's trip report — conditions shift.
