About

Vogar is a year-round campsite in the lava fields by Lake Mývatn, with a hiking trail to Hverfjall starting right beside it. It has a heated indoor kitchen, free Wi-Fi and hot showers at no extra cost. Dimmuborgir and the Mývatn Nature Baths are a short drive. Children under 14 stay free.

Vogar sits among lava formations near Lake Mývatn, only a few hundred metres from the water and looking toward the Hverfjall crater. A hiking trail up Hverfjall begins right next to the site, which makes it a natural base for walkers. Being open all year, it's kitted out for cold seasons: the indoor kitchen and dining space are heated, Wi-Fi is free, and hot showers cost nothing extra. It takes tents, campervans and motorhomes, all with electric hookups, plus a black-water disposal point and fresh drinking water to refill. Check-in is done yourself, by scanning a QR code or using a kiosk, with staff reachable by phone. Daddi's Pizza is next door, big-name Mývatn attractions like Dimmuborgir and the Nature Baths are a short drive, and children under 14 stay free.

Wild camping rules have tightened. Use designated campsites to stay on the right side of the law.
