CJA is a small, quiet campsite on the forest farm Hjalli in the Reykjadalur valley, 2 km from Laugar in North Iceland. It sits halfway between Akureyri and Lake Mývatn, on the Diamond Circle. The owners run a small guesthouse alongside, and the site stays open all year.
CJA is a small, quiet site divided into private nooks, on the forest farm Hjalli in the Reykjadalur valley. It sits about halfway between Akureyri and Lake Mývatn, 2 km from the village of Laugar and handily placed on the Diamond Circle. The same family runs a small guesthouse here. The heated service house holds toilets, showers, and a little lounge. The kitchen and dishwashing room are unheated — really a shelter from wind and rain — and guests are asked to sort their rubbish. Finding it takes a little care: turn off Route 1 onto road 846 at Laugar, cross the bridge, then follow the signs onto an unmarked gravel track for about 2 km. The owners lean on personal service, and the site is open all year.
Camping cards can save you money if you're spending multiple nights in the tent. Do the math.
