Laugar Camping
About
A roomy campsite in Reykjadalur, about a 20-minute drive from Lake Mývatn, taking tents through to motorhomes. Some pitches can be booked ahead, the rest are first-come. Children stay free. There's an indoor kitchen and dining room, a pool and a jumping pillow, with Dalakofinn's shop and restaurant within walking distance.
Laugar Camping spreads across a wide site in Reykjadalur, roughly twenty minutes' drive from Lake Mývatn, and handles everything from tents to large motorhomes. Some spots you can reserve ahead; the rest work first-come, so the drill is to arrive, pick a pitch, then pay — at the kiosk in the service building or by scanning a QR code. Do it on arrival and nobody wakes you at dawn to collect. The service building's upper floor has an indoor kitchen and dining area, with showers and toilets below and outdoor dishwashing sinks alongside. Electric hookups sit near the river. A short walk away, Dalakofinn has a restaurant, grocery store and fuel. Children stay free, and there's a pool and a jumping pillow to keep them busy. Note it books through Reisa, not Parka. Open 10 May to 30 September.
Wild camping rules have tightened. Use designated campsites to stay on the right side of the law.
