Tjaldsvæðið Djúpadal
About
Djúpidalur is a family-run farm and campsite near Reykhólar, in the Westfjords, with an indoor swimming pool and hot tub on site. A geothermal borehole supplies plentiful hot water, earth berms shelter the pitches from wind, and cabins and a guesthouse round out the stay. Open all year.
Djúpidalur is a working sheep farm and family-run tourism spot in the Westfjords, near Reykhólar. Alongside the campsite there are cabins, guesthouse rooms, studio apartments and, unusually, an indoor swimming pool with a hot tub and outdoor deck. The valley was carved by glaciers and is full of geology worth walking through. A geothermal borehole means hot water is never in short supply, and earth berms around the site block a lot of the wind. Pitches are level grass for tents, with gravel and artificial-grass bays for motorhomes and caravans. A service building near the pitches has toilets, seating and basic cooking facilities, with a large jumping pillow beside it for children. Two EV charging stations are on site, dogs are welcome on a leash, and the place stays open year-round.
Wild camping rules have tightened. Use designated campsites to stay on the right side of the law.
