About

Heyárfoss is a waterfall on the Heyá river in West Iceland.

Heyárfoss is a 15-metre-high waterfall on the Heyá river in the Westfjords (Vestfirðir) region of Iceland. It lies in the municipality of Reykhólahreppur, about two kilometres northwest of the village of Reykhólar, and can be reached via the Reykhólasveitarvegur route (road 607) between the farms Höllustaðir and Skerðingsstaðir. The waterfall is not easy to see from the road but can be viewed better on foot. The Heyá flows through the Heyárdalur valley, at times nearly drying up, and drops 15 metres at the mountain Reykjanesfjall. Within a few kilometres on the Reykjanes peninsula there are three further waterfalls that also fall from Reykjanesfjall: Grundarfoss, Miðjanesfoss and Staðarfoss.
