About

Grundarfoss is a waterfall in West Iceland.

Grundarfoss is a waterfall in the Westfjords of Iceland. It lies in the municipality of Reykhólahreppur, north of the settlement of Reykhólar on the Reykjanes peninsula in Breiðafjörður. It is formed by the river Grundará, which flows from Lake Grundarvatn through the Grundardalur valley and then drops about 1.6 kilometres further south over the cliff edge of the Reykjanesfjall. The waterfall can be seen from the Reykhólasveitarvegur road. Nearby are further waterfalls such as Heyárfoss, Miðjanesfoss and Staðarfoss, which likewise plunge down from the Reykjanesfjall.
