Hólmavík
About
Hólmavík Campsite sits in the middle of the village in the Westfjords, right by the swimming pool and sports centre. A viewpoint on site looks over Steingrímsfjörður, and shops, restaurants, and trails are all walkable. Children camp free. It's a handy base for the Strandir coast. Open mid-May to mid-September.
Hólmavík's campsite is about as central as they come — right in the village beside the swimming pool, the sports centre, and the community hall. Museums, restaurants, shops, and walking trails all sit within a short stroll. The site splits into four areas, A to D, three of them with electricity. Two service buildings handle toilets and outdoor washing, while the community hall next door adds cooking, laundry, and a small dining space. There's a viewpoint with picnic tables and barbecue grills looking out over Steingrímsfjörður. Beyond the village, it's a solid base for the Strandir region, Árneshreppur, and Ísafjarðardjúp, including Kaldalón. Showers are over at the sports centre, charged at the pool's rates. Open mid-May to mid-September.
Wild camping rules have tightened. Use designated campsites to stay on the right side of the law.
