First thing to know: this site relocated after the area's access roads and traffic were reorganised, so ignore the old spot. From the Ring Road, turn onto Skógavegur, carry on to the large Skógræktarfélag Rangæinga sign, then turn left. Facilities are deliberately simple — toilets, cold fresh water and a disposal point for portable toilets. You pay by scanning a QR code on the service building. A new footbridge over the Kverna stream links the site to the path toward Skógafoss, which is about 2 km, or a 20-minute walk, away. From here you can pick up longer hikes like the Skóga River trail and the Fimmvörðuháls route, and restaurants and the Skógar Museum are all close.
