About
Hauganes campsite sits in a quiet North Iceland village on outer Eyjafjörður, 20 minutes from Akureyri and 10 from Dalvík. Its draw is the sandy beach with hot tubs — the Fjöruböðin beach baths — right by the site. Restrooms, showers, a playground and the Baccalá bar restaurant close by. Opens 15 June.
Hauganes is a small, quiet village on the outer Eyjafjörður bay, about 20 minutes from Akureyri and 10 from Dalvík. The campsite's standout feature is a sandy beach with hot tubs — the Fjöruböðin beach baths — a short walk away, now with new restrooms by the tubs. On site there are restrooms, showers, dishwashing, a washing machine and electrical outlets, plus a playground with new equipment. A batch of 36 new electric outlets went into the upper area in 2025. Payment is handled at fjorubodin.is or the new service house by the tubs, which also sells drinks, ice cream and souvenirs. The village has the Baccalá bar restaurant, the Ektafiskur fish shop and Whales.is whale-watching tours in summer. There's an age limit of 18 for unaccompanied guests. Opens 15 June.
Wild camping rules have tightened. Use designated campsites to stay on the right side of the law.
