About

Dalvík's campsite sits at the town's southern entrance, next to the swimming pool, school and sports complex in North Iceland. Roughly 9,500 square metres of open grass, with football, basketball and playgrounds on the doorstep. Open June to mid-September, drop-in only.

The site covers around 9,500 square metres on the Akureyri side of Dalvík, wedged between the local school, sports complex and the town pool. That makes it an easy base for families — open grass, a turf football pitch, a basketball court and several playgrounds all sit right beside it. Indoors you'll find cooking and dishwashing areas, a seating spot, plus washers, dryers and racks for drying wet boots and gear. Motorhome travellers get fresh-water refills and a place to empty portable toilets. Staff come round to collect fees, and the swimming pool doubles as the local tourist-info desk if you want tips on the area. The season runs June to 15 September, and it's drop-in — no booking needed. Solo campers must be 18 or older.

Book ahead in summer, especially near popular spots. Campsites fill up by late afternoon.
