Tungudalur, Ísafirði

Tungudalur is the main campsite serving Ísafjörður, the biggest town in the Westfjords. It sits about 900 metres off Skutulsfjarðarbraut, wrapped in trees that take the edge off windy days. The Bunárfoss waterfall runs straight through the site and neatly divides it: one half for motorhomes, folding campers and caravans, the other set aside for tents. Two service houses handle the practical side. The older one holds the reception, toilets and a shower; the newer building from 2011 adds more showers, an accessible shower, a washing machine and dryer, and a kitchen with cooking facilities, a microwave and a toaster. There's a playground for children and free Wi-Fi across the site. The season runs from 15 May to 30 September, and drop-ins are fine.
