A newer campsite, opened in 2021, about 12 km from Höfn í Hornafirði with a clear mountain view. A small stream runs past the pitches — good for kids to paddle in. There's a gravel area for vehicles and a grass area for tents, plus WiFi and showers. Open mid-May to late September.
Myllulækur is one of the newer sites in the area, up and running since 2021, and it's built for individuals and families. A small stream runs alongside it, which turns into a natural play spot for children on a warm day. The layout is simple: a gravel section for parking and vehicles, and a grassy section for pitching tents. There's WiFi and coin-operated showers, plus electricity, toilets and hot and cold water. Its pull is the setting — a wide mountain view, and a location about 12 km from Höfn í Hornafirði that puts you within striking distance of some big-name stops. Hoffelsjökull, Vestra-Horn and Vatnajökull are all nearby, and Jökulsárlón is around 55 km away. The season runs from mid-May into late September, weather allowing.
