Hlaðir, Hvalfjarðarströnd

Hlaðir stretches along the northern shore of Hvalfjörður, with the fjord in view. New operators took the site over in May 2026. It's split into two areas — one below the community hall, the other west of the parking in a grassier, sheltered patch. The neighbour is what sells it: a geothermal swimming pool right beside the site, with two hot tubs, a cold plunge, and a sauna. Through summer the pool runs its own events. Toilets, showers, and dishwashing sit behind the community hall, and kids stay free. There's local history too. The war and peace museum tells the story of the 1940–1945 occupation, when a quiet fjord became a base for the allied forces. The season runs from late May to the end of August.
