Stóri-Lambhagi is a small, quiet campsite beside Route 47 in Hvalfjörður, looking out over Grunnafjörður with the Skarðsheiði and Akrafjall mountains on the skyline. It has showers, hot and cold water, electricity and mobile-home waste disposal. The season opens around 25 May.
It's a small site, and the view does the heavy lifting. Pitched next to Route 47 in Hvalfjörður, it looks out across Grunnafjörður, with the mountains Skarðsheiði and Akrafjall filling the horizon and good sunsets down the fjord. For its size, the facilities hold up well: showers, hot and cold running water, and outdoor sinks for washing up. There's electricity and waste disposal for mobile homes too. Quiet is the main offer here — a calm overnight base rather than a hub of activity. The season opens around 25 May.
