About

Fossárdalur is a sheltered, roomy campsite among mountains near Djúpivogur in East Iceland, with a shallow stream kids can splash in and the Fossá River running through the valley. Showers, toilets, hot and cold water, washer and dryer. Open all year; children free.

Fossárdalur is a quiet valley site with mountains on all sides and space to spare — it takes clusters of small tents and big motorhomes alike. A little stream runs beside the pitches, ideal for children to paddle in, while the Fossá River threads through the valley itself. The walking is good here, with several waterfalls to find along the Fossá. If you're after peace and quiet away from busier stops, this fits. The service building has toilets, showers, hot and cold water, a washing machine and a dryer. A new electrical system runs power right across the site. It's open all year, drop-in or booked, and children stay free.

Wild camping rules have tightened. Use designated campsites to stay on the right side of the law.
