About

Sveinstekksfoss is a waterfall on the Fossá river in East Iceland.

Fossárfoss, also known as Sveinstekksfoss, is a 15-metre-high waterfall in eastern Iceland (Austurland), near Djúpivogur. It is the last waterfall on the river Fossá (Icelandic for "waterfall river") before it flows into the bay of Fossárvík on the southwestern shore of the Berufjörður. The bay is bypassed by the Ring Road, but the waterfall is more easily reached via the Urðarteigsvegur (9671), which continues on into the Fossárdalur valley. Since 1998 the inner part of Fossárvík has been cut off by a dam carrying a 40-metre-long bridge, over which the Ring Road has run ever since; the previous bridge, built in 1968, was only 8.5 metres long.
