Ásbrandsstaðir, Vopnafirði

Set 8 km out from Vopnafjörður, Ásbrandsstaðir divides into two: a level grassy field and a gravel area, both with electrical hookups. The access road was recently upgraded, so vehicles of any size can reach it. The service building holds two toilets and a shower, plus a kitchen kitted out with a cooker, a two-compartment fridge, and even disposable plates and cutlery if you're caught short. There are tables and chairs inside, a small one for children, and a picnic table with benches outside. A fibre-optic connection keeps the WiFi quick. Families get a playground with a trampoline and a play castle. Dogs are welcome if you ask first, and the site stays open all year.
