About

The Heiðarsporðar volcanic system is located in northeast Iceland near Lake Mývatn. It is the source of numerous formations present in and around the lake, particularly in the form of pseudocraters.

The landscape around volcanic areas looks otherworldly. Black rock, steam vents, the smell of sulfur. Another planet.

The terrain can be sharp and uneven. Good hiking boots aren't optional, they're essential.
