Virkisjökull is an outlet glacier on the western margin of Öræfajökull, southern margin of Vatnajökull, that merges with Falljökull under a debris cover. It's part of the Vatnajökull Group. The name comes from Vífilsfjall mountain.
Never walk on glaciers without a guide and proper equipment. Crevasses can be hidden by snow bridges.
