For anyone flying in or out of Keflavík, Happy Campsite is about six minutes from the airport terminal. The facilities are new: toilets and showers with hot and cold water, outdoor washbasins with cold running water, and free Wi-Fi. It's run by Happy Campers, Iceland's first campervan-rental company, and the layout reflects that. Zones A and C are for campervans that don't need power, Zone B is for those that do — though electric spots are limited, so it's worth booking one ahead — and a separate zone is set aside for tents. The Reykjanes peninsula around it packs a lot in, from the UNESCO Global Geopark to the Seltún hot springs and the Fagradalsfjall volcano. If you've pre-booked on the Parka app, late-night arrivals are fine. Open 1 May to 1 October.
