Grindavík's campsite opened in 2009 at Austurvegur 26 on the Reykjanes peninsula, with a 200-square-metre bathhouse added in 2011 — hot showers, flushing toilets, sinks, coin laundry and a kitchenette. Around 13,500 square metres of space and two playgrounds with swings and climbing nets.
Grindavík's campsite has all the everyday comforts. The bathhouse is the centrepiece — hot showers, flushing toilets, sinks, a coin laundry and a kitchenette for cooking your own meals — and there's easy internet access for anyone travelling with a laptop. The site opened in the summer of 2009 at Austurvegur 26, and in 2011 a 200-square-metre bathhouse and service area was added. There's roughly 13,500 square metres to spread out in, with pitches for tents, trailers and RVs. Families are well looked after: two playgrounds with swings, castles to clamber through and spider nets to climb. It's a straightforward, well-equipped base on the Reykjanes peninsula.
Book ahead in summer, especially near popular spots. Campsites fill up by late afternoon.
