About

Kolufossar is an 8-meter waterfall on the Víðidalsá river in North Iceland.

The Kolufossar are three waterfalls in northwest Iceland, near Hvammstangi and Laugarbakki, with a height of about 8 metres. The river Víðidalsá eroded the Kolugil gorge and plunges here over the three falls before flowing into the river Hóp. The three falls are named Efrifoss ("Upper Waterfall"), the topmost; Kolufoss ("Kola's Waterfall"); and Neðri-Kolufoss ("Lower Waterfall of Kola"). Below the upper waterfall there is a bridge carrying a local side road, from which one has a view of the waterfall and the gorge. The falls are reached via the Víðidalsvegur (Road 715), which branches off the Ring Road.
