Treat any Icelandic cliff with care. Edges are often undercut by the sea or weather and can collapse without warning, and coastal wind can gust hard enough to knock you over. Stay well back from the rim at Gerðuberg, keep to marked paths, and mind children and pets.
Can I see seabirds at Gerðuberg?
Many Icelandic sea cliffs host seabird colonies — puffins, fulmars and kittiwakes — mostly from roughly May to August. Watch from a safe distance behind the edge; nesting birds and crumbling turf make the very rim of Gerðuberg hazardous.
When is the best time to visit Gerðuberg?
