This is the big city option, an eco-campsite in Laugardalur about 3 km from central Reykjavík and open the whole year. The main field carries more than 300 grass pitches, with 50 electric sites for RVs and caravans and 30 more for small campers. Practically everything is on hand. A guest kitchen, hot showers, free WiFi, an open barbecue and outdoor sinks come with the stay, plus a laundromat and paid luggage or bike-box storage. Staff sell bus tickets and travel info, and there's free pick-up for excursions and highland buses in summer. The neighbours seal the deal: the Laugardalslaug pool right beside you, Dalur Café and hostel next door, a grocery store that opens early and closes late, and cafés and restaurants within a ten-minute walk. Bus #14, tour buses and airport buses all stop out front. Book ahead; children stay free.
