A barbecue shelter and playground sit right beside the site, and dogs are welcome. A few rules to note: a seven-night maximum stay, guests under 18 must have a guardian, and there are no cooking facilities or indoor guest areas. The town is known for its lava landscape and its hidden-people folklore, and Reykjavík is close by. The site is run by the Hraunbúar Scout Association, with profits going to youth scouting locally.
