About

Tröllafossar is a waterfall on the Grímsá river in West Iceland.

Tröllafossar is a series of waterfalls and rapids in the river Grímsá, a salmon-fishing river in Lundarreykjadalur. It is located by Fossatún in Borgarfjörður, about 88 km from Reykjavík and 20 km from Borgarnes. In the cliffs along the riverbank there is said to be a very distinct image of a troll-woman, and the site offers a view of the mountain peak Skessuhorn. Grímsá is a major salmon river with many waterfalls and rapids, and in summer it is common to see salmon leaping up the falls.
