Most people searching for Iceland hot springs start at the Blue Lagoon — and Hvammsvík is what the second search finds. Same country, opposite philosophy: instead of an engineered lagoon by the airport, eight natural pools stacked along the Hvalfjörður shoreline, 45 minutes from Reykjavík, where the tide walks into the lowest pools twice a day and resets their temperature. The Blue Lagoon is the spectacle; this is the one people whisper about.
