Lögberg, or Law Rock, was a rocky outcrop in south west Iceland, at the location for the assembly of the country's Althing parliament. The original Althing was gathered at Þingvellir, an area of dramatic landscapes which was easily accessible from the populated areas of the south west.

How do I get to Lögberg?
Lögberg is in Reykjavík Area. Check live road conditions on this page before you drive — some coastal cliffs sit at the end of gravel tracks, and conditions change fast in Iceland.
Is Lögberg safe to visit?
Treat any Icelandic cliff with care. Edges are often undercut by the sea or weather and can collapse without warning, and coastal wind can gust hard enough to knock you over. Stay well back from the rim at Lögberg, keep to marked paths, and mind children and pets.
Can I see seabirds at Lögberg?
Many Icelandic sea cliffs host seabird colonies — puffins, fulmars and kittiwakes — mostly from roughly May to August. Watch from a safe distance behind the edge; nesting birds and crumbling turf make the very rim of Lögberg hazardous.
When is the best time to visit Lögberg?
Most cliffs are visitable year-round, though winter access depends on road and weather conditions and daylight is short. Summer brings the longest daylight and, at coastal cliffs, the seabird season. Check live road conditions before you drive.
