The rivers Elliðaár are situated in the Reykjavík area in the south-west of Iceland. Two small rivers have their source in the volcanic mountain range of Bláfjöll and stream down to Elliðavatn lake at the eastern suburban border of the city, its outlet forming the river.

Can you fish in Elliðaár?
Fishing any Icelandic river needs a permit sold per river or beat. Salmon rivers book far ahead and can be expensive; trout and char are more accessible. Never fish without a permit, and disinfect gear brought from abroad.
