Eldey is a small, uninhabited island about 13 kilometres off the coast of the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwest Iceland. Located west-southwest of Reykjavík, the island of Eldey covers an area of about 3 hectares, and rises to a height of 77 metres (253 ft).

Can I visit Eldey?

Eldey is a protected nature reserve in West Iceland. Most Icelandic reserves are open to the public on foot, but each has its own rules — some restrict off-trail walking, camping, dogs or drones, and bird reserves limit access during the spring nesting season.
