Árbæjarfoss
About
Árbæjarfoss is a 10-meter waterfall on the Ytri-Rangá river in Iceland's South Coast.
Árbæjarfoss is a waterfall in southern Iceland, located 4 km north-northeast of Hella, a village on the Ring Road. From the Ring Road, the Árbæjarvegur branches off to the north and leads to the waterfall. At a group of rocks in the river Ytri-Rangá, the water drops about 10 meters; the waterfall is around 50 meters wide. The Ytri-Rangá flows on into the Hólsá. The waterfall takes its name from the farm Árbær on the western bank, which also has a church and was the birthplace of the writer Margrét Jónsdóttir; this farm has no connection to the former farm of the same name that is now the Árbæjarsafn open-air museum in Reykjavík.
