About this vehicle
This is the 2025 refresh of the Tucson already in the fleet — same automatic gearbox, same five seats, upgraded to AWD, with a newer cabin and tech package. If the 2022 Tucson's mechanical case for a mid-size family 4x4 convinced you, this is the same argument with a nicer interior at a higher daily rate.
It's the car for travelers who want the newest available mid-size SUV in the fleet without stepping up to a highlands truck or a 9-seat van. Comfortable for long driving days, roomy enough that a week's luggage doesn't become a Tetris game.
AWD rather than the older Tucson's 4x4 badge is largely a naming distinction here — both deliver genuine gravel-road capability.
Where it can take you
AWD makes gravel roads comfortable — Westfjords, Snæfellsnes, and connector routes are all realistic. Summer F-roads like F208 in the south and F35 Kjölur are within reach driven sensibly. No unbridged river crossings — that's Land Cruiser territory.
Winter driving
A strong winter Ring Road car. Studded tyres are fitted seasonally (Nov 1–Apr 14) per Icelandic rental law, and AWD pairs well with the car's weight for stable winter handling. Highland F-roads close in winter regardless of vehicle.
Luggage & fuel
3 large suitcases with the rear seats up — the same generous boot space as the 2022 Tucson.
Expect around 7–8 l/100km on petrol, in line with the 2022 model. Check live fuel prices on our gas stations map before longer legs of the trip.
