About

Kerlingarfoss is a waterfall on the Fosslækur river in West Iceland.

Kerlingarfoss is a waterfall on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in western Iceland, in the Vesturland region. It has a drop of 60 metres, where the stream Fosslækur (Icelandic for "waterfall brook") plunges 60 metres at the mouth of the Fossgil gully; the stream then flows into the Laxá á Breið and continues north, past the east side of the town of Rif, into Breiðafjörður. The waterfall lies about 1.3 kilometres from the road and can be reached via the Útnesvegur (road 574), and it is only 650 metres east of Svöðufoss. There are other waterfalls in Iceland that also bear the name Kerlingarfoss.
