This trip follows Iceland’s South Coast all the way to Jökulsárlón, through lava fields and past mountains and glaciers. You’ll walk behind Seljalandsfoss, stand at the foot of Skógafoss, and visit Reynisfjara, a black sand beach with basalt cliffs, sea stacks and plenty of seabirds. The last stop is Jökulsárlón, a glacier lagoon where blue and white icebergs float slowly out toward the sea. Price is per vehicle. Stops on this tour: ✓ Seljalandsfoss – The Seljalandsá river drops 60 meters over what used to be the coastline. A path runs behind the waterfall, so you can walk right around it and look out through the falling water. Just 500 meters away is Gljúfrabúi, a smaller waterfall tucked inside a narrow gorge, worth the short walk. ✓ Skógafoss – One of Iceland’s biggest waterfalls, 25 meters wide and 60 meters tall. On sunny days the spray often throws up a rainbow, sometimes two. ✓ Reynisfjara – Iceland’s famous black beach, backed by cliffs of basalt columns. Offshore stand the Reynisdrangar sea stacks. Puffins, fulmars and guillemots nest in the cliffs. ✓ Jökulsárlón – A glacier lagoon at the edge of Vatnajökull National Park, full of icebergs that have broken off the glacier. The lake formed as the glacier pulled back from the coast, and it keeps growing as the ice melts. At over 248 meters deep, it’s the deepest lake in Iceland. ✓ Something extra – Depending on the time, the weather and how everyone’s feeling, your guide may add a stop or two along the way.
