Northern Lights Hunt: Go Further by 4x4 Sprinter

Seeing the Northern Lights is often one of the biggest dreams behind a trip to Iceland. We know how much this evening can mean, so we designed a tour that gives us the freedom to genuinely search for them-not simply drive to one predetermined location and hope for the best. You will leave Reykjavík in a comfortable Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4 with a local driver-guide who knows Iceland’s winter roads and understands how quickly the weather can change. Throughout the evening, we follow the forecasts, watch the clouds and adjust our route whenever necessary. Sometimes the clearest sky is close to the city. On other nights, we need to travel farther to find it. That uncertainty is part of every real Northern Lights hunt. The Sprinter’s 4x4 capability gives us more options when choosing the route and helps us reach suitable locations that may not be practical for large tour coaches. We look for dark and peaceful places where you can step outside, slow down and properly take in the Icelandic night. There is a reason people call our guides local hunters-and sometimes even aurora whisperers. It is not because we can control nature, but because we know how to read the conditions, react quickly and recognise when it is time to stay patient or move somewhere else. Finding the lights requires experience, local knowledge and often a little determination. We bring all three. When we find the right place, we switch off the vehicle lights and give everyone time to enjoy the silence and darkness around us. While we wait, we serve hot chocolate and share stories about Iceland, the aurora and life beneath these unpredictable northern skies. If the Northern Lights appear, we will give you time to experience them without rushing. You can watch, take your own pictures and simply enjoy being there. Your guide can also take a few natural photos of you with a phone whenever the conditions allow. This is not presented as a professional photography session-just a genuine keepsake from a special night. We keep the group to a maximum of 19 passengers. This allows the experience to remain personal while the spacious Sprinter keeps the journey warm and comfortable. We will always be honest with you: nobody can guarantee the Northern Lights. They are a natural phenomenon, and even the best forecast can change. What we can promise is that your guide will genuinely want to find them as much as you do and will use experience, flexibility and local knowledge to give you the best possible chance. If the lights are not seen during your tour, you can join another Northern Lights departure free of charge, subject to availability and our retrial conditions. Bring warm clothes, a little patience and your sense of adventure. We will bring the 4x4, the hot chocolate and one of our local aurora hunters. Together, we will search for the lights.
