Himbrimi Gin Tasting in Reykjavik — An Icelandic Spirits Experience

1 hour Reykjavík areaElysia ToursFree cancellation on most tours

Discover the character of Icelandic craft gin with an intimate Himbrimi tasting in the heart of Reykjavik. This one-hour experience at Hotel Kvosin introduces guests to one of Iceland's most acclaimed spirits — distilled from wild botanicals foraged across the Icelandic landscape and shaped by the country's pure geothermal water. A distinctive addition to any Reykjavik itinerary and a refined alternative among things to do in Reykjavik. The Himbrimi gin tasting pairs naturally with city walking tours, Northern Lights evenings, Blue Lagoon visits, or Golden Circle day trips — perfect for couples, foodies, and travelers seeking authentic Icelandic culture through taste. Himbrimi, named after the Icelandic common loon, is produced by Brunnur Distillery in Reykjavik using organic juniper berries, wild Arctic thyme, angelica flowers, lavender and mountain honey. Every bottle reflects the raw, elemental nature of the North Atlantic. The Tasting The session opens with a short guided presentation on how Himbrimi gin is made — from the herbs, to the role of glacial spring water, and the distillation techniques used by Brunnur distillery. Guests then taste two gins side by side: • Himbrimi Winterbird London Dry — a crisp, full-flavored gin re-distilled using geothermal heat, with bright juniper, citrus, and floral notes. • Himbrimi Old Tom — a golden, lightly sweetened gin built on 18th-century recipes, cold-infused with botanicals and rounded with Icelandic wildflower honey. To complete the sensory journey, guests handle and smell the actual herbs, spices, and honeys used in distillation — arctic thyme, angelica, juniper, lavender and mountain honey — connecting the flavors in the glass to the Icelandic terrain. The experience closes with a Himbrimi Negroni , a ready-to-drink cocktail crafted with Himbrimi gin and selected ingredients — a polished finish to a refined tasting. Practical Information • Age requirement: 20+ • Venue: Hotel Kvosin, central Reykjavik • Format: small groups, intimate setting • Included: guided presentation, two-gin tasting flight, botanical sampling, one Himbrimi Negroni
