About this tour

Enjoy a day of sightseeing at Iceland’s top attractions by booking this incredible 8hr tour of the Golden Circle. Those eager to experience the outstanding beauty of Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss Falls, Kerid Crater and Geysir geothermal area should book this day trip now.

This tour starts with pickup from Reykjavik at the cruise port. Your driver will then take you to the first of today’s attractions, Thingvellir National Park. You can traverse a beautiful natural landscape dotted with water-filled ravines, birch trees, and moss-covered rocks here.

Not only does Thingvellir National Park boast excellent scenery, but it’s also a geographically and historically significant place. The park is famous for a few reasons, the first being that it’s home to the oldest surviving parliament globally.

Secondly, the Eurasian and American tectonic plates are slowly moving apart, making this the only place you can walk between two continents. More recently, Thingvellir has made the spotlight as one of the filming locations for the Game of Thrones series.

Next, you will visit the Geysir geothermal area, an otherworldly landscape of steaming fumaroles and boiling mud pits. You only need to wait a few minutes to see the impressive Strokkur geyser explode in the air. This geyser can reach up to 130 feet (40 meters).

Your third stop is Gullfoss falls, also known as the “Golden Falls.” A few theories explain how it got this nickname, one of them being from the golden-brown color of the water on sunny days. The sunshine also produces a rainbow before the falls, creating a perfect photo opportunity.

The next stop after Gulfoss is Kerid Crater. This natural site was formed from a volcano and is colored red from Iron deposits. It is estimated to be 3000 years old.

Finally, your driver will take you back to Reykjavik for the evening.

Don’t miss the chance to visit Iceland’s top destinations on this customizable day-tour of the Golden Circle. Check availability now by choosing a date.
